osetljivim materijalima. Spektar njenih dosadašnjih kreacija je širok, do
dvodimenzionalnih i trodimenzionalnih do instalacija, plastika ili
environmenata, pokretnih slika, njene slike stvaraju utisak celine – viziju i
iluziju na granici imaginacije. Mnoštvo slika u stopu prate dinamizam života,
njegove neočekivane zaokrete, smirujuće tišine i ratne traume. Eksperimenti u
propalo”.
multikulturnog identiteta I komunikativna otvorenost u njoj prisutni ab ovo. Njena
umetnost je takav neprekidan unutrašnji monolog, usred unutrašnjih I spoljnjih
sinteze, neokonceptualne doslednosti u komponiranju serija i projekata,
kurs prihvatanja (deluje
pomalo rezervisano) uzet je do naslova jednog akvarela. Zidovi galerije
vibriraju do tenzije, alternirajući između drame i nevinosti, razigranosti i
nadrealne imaginacije.
Barbara crta
i slika iste lutke do 2011.
I u ostalim Barbarinim akvarelima.
Dve
lutke predstavljaju motiv koem se stalno vraća. One igraju glavnu ulogu, Ali je
njihova razigranost as više lica. Preko njihovih metamorfoza, do posmatranja iz
ugla različitih deformacija do apstrakne transfiguracije lutki, ukazuje se
znatna umetnička I duhovna energija, čime se svi radovi postavljaju u
spiritualno kretanje. No
Feelings just Emptiness, An Accident or a Gift?, Like a Bridge over Troubled
Water I Will Lay Me (down), You Can Eat a Whole Elephant but not Today, You
Have so much Sadness inside of You: ovo su naslovi slika označenih na
stranicama dnevnika, koji prenose poruke umetnika. Crtež je sredstvo za
izražavanje intimnosti, spontanosti; grafičke linije, tonovi, intimnost
formata, i zadržavaju znatno veću privatnost nego slikarsko platno. Meso i
lavanda.
serija: mejl-art radovima Sincerely
Barbara, crtežima
vodenim žigom Kiklop i Sirena ili Unutrašnja
pomeranja.
Guttman, boje i svetlo/senke stvaraju dramatični efekat. Voda pred umetnika
“saradnika”.

Zašto kroćenje života? Bez
obzira koliko je življenje života lična stvar, nama se to življenje I nameće.
Stoga ženska duša, at posebnost ženskog principa i ženskog sistema
sakupila u snop ličnog iskustva emfatično inspiriše i odredjuje njenu umetnost.
Stoga,
Mogućnosti i izazovi kreacije
crtu, a umetnik preuzima ulogu i stvaraoca i tumača svojih dela, posebno u slučaju
njenom iskustvu crtača i trendovima u modernoj umetnosti.

Taming of Life
In the modern world, you can grasp the holistic via adoption of the principle of simplicity, thus making all appear in its own essence. In this exhibition, the works of Barbara Guttman are being embodied in vulnerable materials. Her images, the vast range of works she has executed so far, from planar surfaces and paintings to installations, objects or environments and moving pictures, create such visual wholeness – visionary and illusive as it is, at the brink of imagination. A myriad of images follow closely life's hustle and bustle, its abrupt turns, its tranquil silences and warring traumas, experiments in the process of creation offer answers to over-acting of that peculiar all-has-fallen-apart feeling. This supremacy represents Barbara Guttman's unique intimacy and the gestures stem from her inner personality. She is an exceptionally individual character both as an artist and a person since the colourfulness of multicultural existence and openness in communication has been within her character AB ovo. Her art is such a perpetual inner monologue, amidst inner and outer travelling, that it craves for being exposed and made public.

This exhibition's main feature, like with her works executed so far, is its strong contemplative and emotional contents. What best describes her creation of form is definitely her power of synthesis, neo-conceptual consistency in composing series and projects as well as adoption of traditions and continuous analysis of form aiming to expose the notion of renewal. The title of the exhibition The Intensive Course in Acceptance (sounding unusually low-key) has been taken from the title of a watercolour. The gallery walls vibrate with tension, between drama and innocence, playfulness and surreal imagination, essentially depicted in the writing-paper-format introductory painting. Dark blue patches transferring into black represent a surface of water covering a greater part of the painting. Two silhouettes can be spotted, dolls with their heads conjoined like Siamese twins, floating upside down. The doll on the right is with legs apart and reddish trunk with spots painted on it, while the one on the left is a silhouette clad in a dark hue and sprinkled with a few drops of red paint, which may be drops of blood as well. Barbara has been drawing and painting the dolls since 2011, which she does tell the viewers. We get the impression that we are “reading” a diary; it is no mere chance that the titles of paintings are quite important.
Louise Burgeois was asked in 2008 what drawing as imaging of inner life meant for her. In her reply, the ingenious grand Dame of female art voiced her belief in drawing as a “different” sort of diary, which she had been writing continually since her childhood. “I know that when I finish a drawing my anxiety level decreases. The realistic drawings are a way of pinning down and idea. With the abstract drawings, when I'm feeling loose, I can slip into the unconscious.”

The Intensive Course in Acceptance summarizes what one sees in Barbara's other watercolours. (As an alienated indication and exclamation mark we can see the inspiration-making model, the doll, as well, hanging on the wall). The two dolls is a recurring motif, they play the main roles; however, their playfulness has many faces. Via their metamorphoses, from the viewpoint to various deformations, to abstract transfiguration of the dolls, considerable artistic and spiritual energy unfolds to set the total of the works into motion. No feelings just Emptiness, An Accident or a Gift?, Like a Bridge over Troubled Water Will Lay Me (down), You Can Eat a Whole Elephant but not Today, You Have so much Sadness inside You: these are the titles of images hallmarked on the pages of the diary conveying the artist's messages. The drawing is the means of communicating intimacy, spontaneity; the graphic lines, hues, the intimacy of format and size preserve more of the privacy than the canvas. Flesh and lavender. This radical juxtaposition has also been a trait of her earlier series: Sincerely Barbara mail-art works, Cyclop and Mermaidwatermark drawings or Inner Movements series of drawings. It should be said that water-based techniques are highly recognizable of Barbara's art. It is the transparency of water colours and ink that make them so suitable for painting transparent elements like water, air and light. In Barbara Guttman's paintings, colours and light-shades create dramatic effects. Water poses both an easy and difficult task for the artist; it is for sure that walnut ink, Indian ink, watercolour, even handmade paper may turn the accidental into the artist's “co-worker”.
Why taming of life? However individual living our lives is, we are also made to live it. That is why the female soul, this specificity of the female principle and value, which her docility has won her, may be wasted in the course of living life's situations. Despite the fact that Barbara is a young artist, all that she has experienced so far emphatically inspires and determines her art. Periods she has lived through have become distinct both in space and time. Barbara has put considerable effort in her studies. She is an artist and art teacher having delved into both academic and experimental media art. Having done this at various places, it is no wonder that each move, south to north or east to west, developed her wish to discover relations between things as well as between the past and present. That is why childhood, the true and false illusions of existence as a child and weird transformations of the idyllic are Barbara's recurring motifs. Her home is art itself, a place of all-time creation. This may be the reason why the material of her exhibition can fit into a file so that, on an other day, she may experiment with a range of techniques like street-art, environment, video film, handmade paper or the ancient technique of egg tempera.
Under the creative hand and gestures of the artist, the mysterious forms of the dolls are alternately humanized and dehumanized. Reality interferes with abstract. Referring to tension, mentioned above, I believe there is no work of art without the duality of tension and harmony. A true work of art is bound to declare something in interrogative or affirmative form engaging our emotional and intellectual being. With overwhelming uncertainty should we talk either about representational or conceptual works of art – the fluidity of constant uncertainty.
The possibilities and challenges of imaging are constantly changing nowadays and we dominantly think in media terms. The growing number of artistic values are indisputably symbolic and the artist takes on both the role of author and presenter of their works especially in case of such creations as the ones represented by Barbara Guttman. Her works are based on her drawing experience and contemporary artistic trends. Dynamism, the keyword of her works, never seems to lose momentum.
“In our mean world, everything can change but the heart and human love, which craves for grasping the divine. Art – as well as poetry – is a part of the divine: people feel it today as they have always felt it.” (Chagall)
An unexpected performance has joined the exhibition: “sacrifice” of a number of breakable putto dolls, cast of sugar syrup and clad in warm colours, in front of the gallery – symbolizing Chagall's affirmative thoughts, not our losses.

Az élet megszelídítése
Az élet megszelídítése
Ebben a világban a teljesség az egyszerűségben
válik megfoghatóvá; a dolgok azonosak önmagukkal.
Guttman Barbarai intimitást képviseli, a gesztusok a bensőből vezérelt
egyéniségé. Művészként és emberként is különleges adottságokkal rendelkezik,
hiszen számára a multikulturális lét színessége, a kommunikációs nyitottság abovo adott.
Művészete olyan szüntelen belső monológ, külső és belső utazások közepette,
mely ugyanakkor igényli a kitárulkozást, a nyilvánosságot.
Mostani kiállítására, mint eddigi munkáira
szintén az erős gondolati, emocionális tartalom, felütés a jellemző.
Formaalkotására a szintézis, neokonceptuális következetesség a szériák, a
projektek megfogalmazása és a posztmodern korszakra jellemző nyitottság, a
tradíciók elsajátítása mellett a folyamatos formabontás megújulás szándéka
A sötéten kéklő,
feketével oldódó színfoltok vízfelületet ábrázolnak, elfedik a kép nagy részét,
ebben az ősközegben két sziluett lebeg fejjel lefelé: babák a fejüknél sziámi
ikerként összenőve. A jobboldali baba szétterpesztett lábai, teste vöröslő,
foltokkal megfestett, míg a baloldali sötét színbe öltözött árny, itt-ott tűnik
Louise
Bourgeois-tól kérdezték 2008-ban mit jelent nála a rajz mint a belső élet
leképezése. Válaszában a nőművészet zseniális nagyasszonya hitet tett arra
A két
játékbaba a visszatérő motívum, ők a főszereplők, ám a játékosságuknak sok arca
van. Metamorfózisaik által a nézőponttól a különböző deformálódásig, a
figuráknak absztrakt minőségben való átmeneteiig – számos festői és a művek
egészét mozgásba lendítő spirituális mozgás bontakozik ki. No Feelings
just Emptiness, An Accident or a Gift?, Like a Bridge over Troubled Water I Will
Lay Me (down), You Can Eat a Whole Elephant but not Today, You Have so much
Sadness inside of You: képcímek, a
napló lapjait fémjelezve mutatják a művész üzeneteit. A rajz a közvetlenség a
spontenaitás eszköze, a grafikus vonalak, tónusok, a méret bensőségessége, az
olaj-vászonhoz képest többet megőriz a privát jellegből. Hús és levendula.
Korábbi sorozataira a Sincerely Barbaracímű mail art munkáira,
vízfestéket, tust áttetsző Volta alkalmassá teszi a transzparens elemek, víz,
levegő, fény megfestésére. Guttman Barbara festményein, drámai hatást váltanak
ki a színek, a fény-árnyékok. A víz egyszerre könnyű és nehéz feladatok elé
állítja a művészt, egy biztos, a pác, a tus, a vízfesték, még a merített papír
is a véletlent teszi a művész „alkotótársává”.
átváltozásai ezért visszatérő motívumok Barbaránál, kinek otthona maga a

A lendület a
kulcsszava munkáinak és szinte sohasem áll meg.
„A mi megrontott világunkban minden megváltozhat
(Chagall)
A kiállításhoz váratlan performatív akció
társult: sok, törékeny, cukorszirupból kiöntött, szép meleg tónusokba
öltöztetett puttó-babák figuráinak „feláldozása” a galéria előtt, a járdán –
jelképezze Chagall igenlő gondolatait, semmint a veszteségeinket.
